Education:
I received a B.S. degree in Geology in 1987 from the Ohio State University .  There I did an undergraduate thesis on trace element differentiation in a volcanic suite from the island of Aegina, in the Aegean Sea (Advisor: Dr. Michael Barton ).  I also worked as a research assistant in the Laboratory for Isotope Geology and Geochemistry with Dr. Gunter Faure , where I studied the trace element and stable isotope systematics of travertine and glacial till from Antarctica.

I received my M.S. degree in Geology from Texas Tech University in 1991.  I studied the geochemical interactions that occur during mixing and mingling of magmas, as exemplified by mixing/mingling zones in the Jurassic Grayback pluton in the Klamath Mountains of SW Oregon (Advisor: Dr. Calvin G. Barnes ).  Click here to see some photos.

I stayed at Texas Tech University for my Ph.D., which I received in 1995.  I worked on the petrogenesis of high-alumina tonalite and trondhjemite from the Middle Cretaceous Cornucopia stock, NE Oregon, which included a geochemical comparison with other Mesozoic plutons in the Blue Mountains province (Advisor: Dr. Calvin G. Barnes ).  The origins and tectonic implications of these plutons continue to be an active area of research for me.  Click here to see photos.
