3354 Film as Narrative: Shakespeare on Film
 
Prerequisites: 3 hours of literature 
A study of film as narrative, either fiction or non-fiction, organized by topic, historical development, genre, or critical approach. 
Film and Shakespeare: We will study the history of Shakespearean film.  We will study methodologies of looking at film, editing, camerawork, directing, acting, screenwriting, and casting.  We will look at classical productions such as the BBC series as well as "far-out" Shakespearean interpretations such as My Own Private Idaho, Forbidden Planet, Ten Things I Hate About You, and others.
